into Statue Square by queen's statue. I stood there waiting people

doing something and until 2 men ran flying past me and the 6 or 7

also ran. I ran because I saw so many people running. I did not

know them so I did not ask why they ran. When they got to the tram

lines they separated. The first 2 men ran towards the bill and

then towards Central Market over the tram lines. I ran along

towards Hongkong Bank. I don't know Hongkong very well. At first

I was standing looking at the pillars. I did not stat running

until 2 men ran past me. When I started running there were 2 men

about 4 cheung ahead (48 feet). 7 or 8 men after came up. I

followed 3 or 4 of these men and I ran along the pavement. The

other 3 or 4 ran along centre of road to tram line and they sepa-

rated. The 3 or 4 men I followed ran also along the middle of the .

road. They all ran along together in the middle of the road. I

followed. The 2 men were running much faster than the 7 or 8.

I ran after the 7 or 8 I was in the tail. I ran on the pavement so

as not to give trouble to one or other. The 7 or 8 men got to the

tramway first. They ran faster. I did not notice if the pavement

was up. I did not see the bamboo. I did not jump over it or any

obstruction. I ran along the pavement without any trouble, as I

By Queen's Statue there are 2 large pillars. (Witness points out

on plan where he was standing).

This is the first time I have seen the plan, I don't understand

plans. I asked the Interpreter to show me where sea was and where

Statue was. I was near to pillar (points out pillar on western

side. Now that Interpreter tells me it is a pillat. I was standing

so far from the pillar (as far as the table from witness box) the

plastering was being done to the pillar.

Don't know when A Cheung is to call here as a witness, (Statement

to Police), I meant I was passing Hongkong Bank I was running and

it had nothing to do with me. I said nothing when arrested by

European. If I wanted to speak I could not I was pressed down and

nearly throtled.

They held me so tight I could not speak,
